What credit cards do you accept as payment?
We accept Visa, Mastercard, American Express, Discover, Eurocard,
and Visa-Debit, MasterCard-Debit, and Novus cards, Paypal is also
possible with prior arrangement.
What if I dont have a credit card?
If you don't have access to a credit card we have an alternate
method of payment via Paypal.com. We can also accept electronic
checks from customers in the USA. You must inform us at the time
you make your order if you would prefer to pay using this method.
Can I send you cash or a check as payment?
No cash sorry. As we are located in Australia the cost of cashing
international checks or cash is much too high and would result in
us having to charge higher fees for our services. Sending cash in
the mail is also open to theft. We can however accept electronic
checks from customers in the USA. You must inform us at the time
you make your order if you would prefer to pay using this method.
What is stopping you from taking my money and
then not handing over the goods?
This is a valid concern when shopping at any site on the internet.
When we first started the service we worked on a payment on completion
basis. However we found that customers would forget that they had
ordered which proved to be a major problem as we had to continuously
follow up on orders. Payment on completion also opened us up to
customer fraud. We now ask for payment on ordering. FontGod.com
was established in October 2001 and is a service operated by Alphaweb,
a registered Australian Business operating out of Coffs Harbour,
NSW, Australia (NSW Business Reg: V3248637). We do not ever see
your credit card details, the transaction is handled by Clickbank.com
, our transaction company. Please read through our testimonials,
and check our sample fonts to put your mind at ease. Contact us
before making your purchase if you are still unsure.
Is your payment system secure?
Yes, we use the secure payment facility offered by well renowned
Clickbank company. We do not even see your credit card numbers.
I've purchased a font and have received my credit
card statement but there is no reference to FontGod?
As Clickbank handles all our transactions it is that company
you will see mentioned on your credit card statement, not FontGod.
Clickbank then repays us the funds drawn by them from your account.
Can I refer people to your service and make money
if they purchase?
You certainly can, we offer a generous % based commission on
sales resulting from a link from your site and using Clickbank for
the transaction. Click on the "Earn Money" button to learn
more.
Why are your prices cheaper than other similar
services on the net?
From our research we have found that our prices are mostly far
cheaper but occasionally equal to those offered by other companies
for similar services. We have priced our service according to our
current situation. The Australian dollar is currently far lower
than the US dollar and hence any money we make is worth more when
converted to Australian dollars. We rely heavily on referrals from
our affiliates for most of our sales, this way we only have to pay
for advertising when the sale is made, not before.
I've changed my mind, can I have a refund?
We cannot offer refunds after we have started work on your font
however if you make a request for refund before work is started
we are happy to oblige. However, if you are unhappy with your font
we will undertake minor changes at no charge, this usually relates
to spacing problems.
Who is behind FontGod?
FontGod.com is owned and operated by Graham Jupp and operates
under the registered business name of Alphaweb.
What's with the name, "FontGod"?
We wanted a catchy name to do with font creation, and since
God is the ultimate creator it just seemed to fit.
Where are you located?
We operate from a home office in the small seaside town of
Mullaway on the east coast of New South Wales, Australia. Our mailing
address is 48 Mullaway Drive, Mullaway NSW 2456, Australia
What is your privacy policy?
We understand that your personal details are to be
kept private. As such we do not distribute your details to third
parties without your express permission. Your personal data and
copies of your created fonts are kept as a backup in our archives
for our own use only and we may use the information occasionally
to inform you of our business operations and offers. We do not restribute
or resell your fonts without your express permission.
Do you offer any other services besides font
design?
Yes, we offer web design services at great rates. Contact us
for a competitive quote.
What is a font?
Hmmmm.... I'm hoping most of you will know the answer already but
for those that live in a cave then a font is a typeface or lettering
style. The dictionary also describes a font as being a receptacle
in a church that holds water for baptisms. Don't get confused, we
dont build baptismal fonts, just the typeface variety.
What type of font format will you create for
me?
We only create fonts in truetype format at present. The font
is sent to you in Windows or Mac compatible format. We can send
both formats for an addtional fee.
Who owns the copyright on the font you create
for me?
You, simple as that. You are free to use it wherever you like.
We do not redistribute or resell fonts we create for paying customers
without their express permission.
How long does it take?
Generally it takes us around 7 business
days from when we receive your correctly completed template. Sometimes
it may take slightly more or less time depending on our workload.
If you are sending your templates in the mail it can add several
weeks to the process due to mail delivery delays to where we are
based in Australia.
Can I use the font on a Macintosh computer?
Yes, provided that is what you request on ordering. If you
have OS X or newer you can simply request a PC truetype font and
it will work on both platforms, however if you have an older version
of Mac OS you will need to have us convert the font for you.
Where can I use the font you create for me?
Anywhere you would normally use truetype fonts. Most
wordprocessing, speadsheets, desktop publishing and graphic design
programs are able to accept truetype fonts.
How do I install my new font on my windows PC?
Firstly copy the font file from the email we sent you onto your
harddrive, making note of where you copied it to. For PC's running
windows 95 or better simply open up your Control Panel and click
on the Fonts folder. Then select the file menu and choose "install
new font". You should then choose the location of where you
copied the font to and click ok.
I want a font based on my cursive or running
writing style, can you help me?
Certainly, however due to the complexities of this style of
writing it is slightly more expensive than a standard print handwriting
font.
I want you to convert someone elses handwriting,
is this possible?
Aside from the possible legalities associated with this it is
a very long process to convert handwriting that is not created using
the grid method that we use. Hence we charge varying amounts for
this service. You will also have to provide a valid reason.
Can you create a font for me from scratch based
on a description?
No sorry, we only convert from existing scanned handwriting
examples.
The font you have designed for me seems smaller/larger
than other fonts in my system of the same point size, what's the
story?
Handwriting styles and sizes vary dramatically and hence the
completed font size may be either smaller or larger than other fonts
in your system when selecting the same point size. Simply adjust
your point size until you are happy with the result.
What will my font be named?
Your font name will be based on your own name and surname unless
you tell us otherwise.
The font looks a little different to my handwriting
style, what happened?
Some people find that when they are asked to write a sample
of their lettering style they tend to write either better or worse
than they normally would, sometimes they may even form certain letters
in a completely different way to their natural style. Naturally
we can only work with what we are provided with. Its a good idea
to practice a little on some dummy templates before you start on
the final copy.
When I type with my new font the letters are
too close together.
We use your handwriting example to gauge your natural spacing
between letters. However the application software you are using
may be adjusting the spacing for you. Most good wordprocessors and
design programs have options for letter spacing, try adjusting this
option till you are happy with the results.
I dont have a printer, can I still have a font
designed by you?
If you do not have access to your own printer, try asking a
friend. Or alternatively most printshops should be able to print
a copy of the handwriting template for you.
I dont have a scanner, can I still get a font
designed by you?
Most copy shops will provide a scanning service where you can
have your templates scanned according to the instructions included
when you order. Alternatively you may have a friend who is able
to help you out with scanning.
I've lost my font that you created for me, can
I have it please?
Please keep a backup of your font on floppy disk or CD. We will
not be responsible for your lost or corrupted font. You may request
your font again from us but we do not guarantee that it will always
be available.
I made a mistake with some of the letters in
my font, can you do it for me again?
We can make adjustments to any font we have created upon your
request. Depending on the level of complexity of the problem we
may charge you a small fee for this service.
